At Valley West Community Hospital we know everyone has a talent we can use, and we know there is a place here for them.

What is the Valley West Community Hospital Auxiliary
A group of dedicated men and women who raise money to purchase hospital equipment, and serve as volunteers.

Why should you become a member of the Auxiliary?
To support one of the community’s most valuable assets—your community hospital. As a member, you will be invited to attend two luncheons each year.


Communities served by the Auxiliary include:

  • Leland, Millbrook, Millington & Newark
  • Plano, Sandwich, Somonauk & Serena
  • Sheridan, Waterman & Yorkville

The Auxiliary is governed by:
Board of Directors elected by the membership.

Volunteer Services

If patients would like an errand run, within the hospital, a letter written, someone to talk to, a book, magazine, or a gift shop item, contact the volunteers at the reception desk at (815) 786-8484, Ext. 3210.

Mail and Flowers
Volunteers will deliver mail, flowers, and messages to nurses to be given to patients. Mail received after discharge will be forwarded to their home address.

Newspapers, Books, & Magazines
Complimentary newspapers are available. Magazines and books are available through the Volunteer Office or may be purchased in the Gift Shop. Call the volunteers at the reception desk at x3210 for assistance.

Gift Shop
The Gift Shop, operated by the VWCH Auxiliary, is located in the main lobby. The hours are as follows:

Monday through Friday 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.; Saturday 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Closed on Sundays and holidays.
